Kindra DiGiacomo Maternity

We had a great time shooting Kindra and her boyfriend Anthony a little over a week ago in Old Sacramento! We were afraid of the weather as it was a 90% chance of rain, but it cooperated til the very end for us and it actually helped us out by having Old Sac all to ourselves! They were an awesome couple that helped make the shoot incredibly easy.

This was actually the first time we had a chance to shoot at dusk/night too and use the flash outdoors. We loved how the photos turned out and definitely want to do more night shots and start using the flashes more outside of the home studio.

All in all, I'd say this was probably one of the easiest sessions we had where time just flew by and we kept wanting to shoot (and we did). Thanks again for letting us take photos of these memories for you Kindra!

Ortega Family

Monica and I had the pleasure of doing a quick 30 minute session with our dragonboat friend Jeva and her lovely family! Their little daughter is adorable!! I must say this session went very smooth as the family seemed to be seasoned pros at having their photos taken. Although anyone walking by probably thought it was odd as one or two of us was always making loud baby talk and noises to get baby Lauren's attention at the camera :) We hope you all like them!

Cortez Grandparents and Grandchildren

Nick and I had a lot of fun photographing the Cortez grandparents, Rosales boys, and little Lily. It was quite an adventure trying to get the kids to pose, but after all kids will be kids, and many of the pictures definitely demonstrate their personality : )

An old friend from college, Louis and his wife, Idania contacted me after several years to ask us to photograph Idania's parents and grandchildren. I was really happy to hear from Louis and very glad to meet his wife and two adorable boys as well as their cute niece and Idania's parents.

The photo session was a surprise birthday present for Idania's mother. We hope she enjoys the photographs for many years to come.

My Dream Is... 01

Our latest session was inspired by a series of photos by http://www.veritas-images.com. We wanted to take photos of preschoolers/kindergarteners showing off what their dream was. Something for them and their family to look back on in the future :)

We had a blast with this one! The kids definitely had a lot of fun goofing off and playing around. This was probably one of the easiest shoots we've ever had. Can't wait to do more of these!

Newborn: Sadie Ramos

This was our official first new born session! Nick and I were both very excited. We did some research, took notes, and came up with a plan. I had the props and all of the equipment set up ahead of time. However, we were immediately challenged by Sadie.

I shot by myself the first day for about an hour and a half and Sadie did very well. No crying, but she did not fall asleep at all. This made it hard for me to position her the way I intended and ended up doing other shots instead. I discovered that it is not easy to make a baby do what you want them to. After looking at the pictures, I was disappointed and asked Mindy if she would be willing to bring Sadie back the next day. Of course, I quickly explained to her that it was nothing she or Sadie did, I simply was not satisfied with the photographs and wanted to give it another shot. Mindy said yes and she came over the next day : )

On the second day of shooting, Nick and I worked together. While I positioned Sadie Nick was able to take some practice shots first, and final shots once I moved out of the way. Nick and I took turns taking the pictures we "in visioned." Even though, we still did not get some of the shots we wanted to, we learned that working together made the process a lot smoother. Yet, I think Sadie had had enough experience modeling that she was not too happy on her second day of shooting and I understood completely. We shot for under an hour and at the end of it all, Nick and I were content with the photographs we took. Sadie cooperated as much as she could and I give Mindy a big THANK YOU for coming over twice. I heard Sadie slept well the nights after her sessions : )

At the end of it all, Nick and I recognize that we have a lot to learn about newborns. This was definitely a fun first new born photo session experience!

Jenna's Family

Nick and I had the opportunity to photograph my previous professor Jenna Porter's family!

A big thank you to Jenna for being very supportive of me, not only as a teacher, but as a beginning photographer. As soon as I shared with her that Nick and I were starting our photography business she said she would be interested in having us photograph her family in the future. This was 8 months before the actual photo shoot.

I was extremely excited to meet her family, especially her son and daughter! Logan and Natalie were wonderful little models! I enjoyed seeing them laugh and smile, in particular the photographs where Jenna and her husband David, and the kids were laying on the grass being themselves, as I shot from above. Of course, I cannot leave Jenna's nephew, Elias out of this blog. He was the youngest and hardest to work with, but once I had his attention, I LOVED his smile and eyes!

It was a great pleasure to meet Jenna's parents, husband, and sisters, as well. One of my favorite parts, whether its before, during, or after a shoot is talking to the everyone and getting to know more about them.
